The Challenge

Create a digital catalogue of METRO C&C wines

The countries, regions and sub-regions from which METRO C&C supplies wines to Russia cover practically the entire world wherever vines grow.

To create a bright, memorable, non-standard, but at the same time intuitive interface that would make it easy to choose wine both by geographical origin and by combination with dishes, emphasising the unique taste of each producer - this was the task set to us by the customer.

Discovering the world of wine

Criteria or starting points for travelling through the wine world

What to choose - Italy, Spain, France, or maybe take a risk and try New Zealand wine? What would go better with fish or young lamb? Or maybe you've tasted wine from a certain grape variety and want to find something similar? We have, in close collaboration with the Department of Alcohol and a renowned sommelier, developed starting points for your journey:

Regionality. You can always explore the flavours of your favourite wine country. Region by region, including small ‘craft’ wineries;

Type (aka colour and sweetness). Always get what you like, but if you want to try something new, you can switch literally in 1 click;

The 40 grape varieties are not the limit. Explore how a wine made from, for example, Torrontes grapes from Chile differs from a seemingly similar wine from Argentina;

Let your dining experience take on a different colour! Open up the world of food-pairing and everyone you know will think of you as a true wine expert!

Given that the project was originally conceived as a synergy of ‘wow-effect’ and thoroughly researched data about wine on the shelves of METRO C&C, we thought ‘why not’ and designed it as brightly and unconventionally as possible.

Whether you want to learn more about why you should buy at METRO or want to become a METRO partner, you'll definitely remember the horizontal scrolls on the content pages and the animated approach.

And interesting stories about grape varieties or countries illustrated with immersive landscapes will add even more colour to your wine glass.
